Ecovillage Georgia: A Sustainable Community
Discover our initiative for sustainable living in the heart of the Caucasus.

Vision & Values
Ecovillage Georgia is the first intentional ecovillage in the South Caucasus, located in Ninigori village, Lagodekhi Municipality, Kakheti region, approximately 2.5 hours from Tbilisi. This 6.5-hectare site at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains is being developed by a diverse group of Georgian and international members into a sustainable, low-impact residential community.
The community is guided by principles of sustainability, inclusivity, and non-hierarchical governance. Operating through sociocratic decision-making, members share values such as love, honesty, non-violence, health, lifelong learning, and social justice.
Community Features
Ecovillage Georgia plans to accommodate 10–30 households, offering:
- Eco-friendly residential plots (300 m² per resident)
- Co-housing spaces for volunteers and guests
- A community center for events and learning
- Communal gardens and a food forest
- Artisanal workshops and tool-sharing facilities
- Social and private businesses adhering to eco and social guidelines
- Informal and non-formal educational spaces for all ages
Environmental Practices
The ecovillage emphasizes environmental responsibility by utilizing recycled and compostable building materials like clay, straw, and wood. Modern technologies such as solar panels, wastewater treatment, and rainwater harvesting are employed to enhance energy efficiency and self-sufficiency. Permaculture principles guide food production, focusing on soil health and ecological balance.
